Today I restored my iPod Nano and fixed it. It's now linking again to a sensor in my shoe, the Nike+ system, and via that I can trace my runs back to distance covered, average speed per km, calories burned. You can take a look at www.nikeplus.com and / or regularly check here for my runs.
The marketing ideas behind the Nikeplus programm are fantastic. Because of this Nike has made running into a community, a global community, even when many people enjoy to run individually. Challenges, goals, resolutions, teams, events. All now possible under the Nike brand. The next step shall be a move by Nike and or Apple into the gym linking to sports equipment. Espescially with the new OS3 for the iPhone allowing interaction via the dock connector with accessories. A running machine in a gym is also an accessory.
We will be amazed again in coming months about these developments I'm sure.
